Cos he had it all ! Looks, charm , attidude ,charisma, amazing voice ! He also knew hot to move in a way that nobody had seen before. He invented rock and roll and he was and still is THE KING !

He came along at the right time, at the very birth of Rock and Roll; a white R%26amp;B singer that had the looks, charm, charisma, and voice that (added to a very effective PR machine) defined and established the style in the mainstream. As a result, he absolutely RULED the airwaves and pop charts from the very beginning of the Rock %26amp; Roll Era. He led the fledgling style away from a "niche" mix of R%26amp;B and Country, and opened the door for the creativity of both his contemporaries, as well as those who came after...white or black...to nurture and advance the genre in ways we today can only marvel. In short...he changed everything; a demarcation from all that came before and all that came after.



His cult of personality produced a following that was unprecedented in the history of popular culture (one that exists even today). His legion of fans helped send over 100 of his hits up the pop charts, including 18 #1 hits (his biggest, 1956's "Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel" stayed on top for 11 weeks, a record that wouldn't be surpassed for 27 years). Even after the Beatles and their contemporaries (most avid Elvis fans themselves) took the reigns of rock in different directions, he was still able to come back and remain remarkably popular...and still chart Top 10 hits...for another decade plus.



When he died, he was still setting (and selling) records...and his legacy and legend speaks for itself. He was and is to this day the most popular rock and roll artist of all time.

well in a sense yes due to his rebellion ways like shaking his waist back and forth which was toatlly cersored back then due to it was not right and his great classic songs however i do not know if we can consider him the king of rock since over the years so many great artist have strifed in the rock n roll industryWhy is Elvis Presley considered the king of rock and roll?
Elvis was the forefather of a new type of music that was so great. He was the only one of his great music at the time and if people wanted to hear it, they had to buy his records because he was the only one
