What exactly is rock and roll?

We%26lt;my group and I%26gt; need an idea of what it was when it first started. we need and idea of what it was like, such as the style, the artists and the fashion. Please be specific, and don"t give answers about you liking it or not.What exactly is rock and roll?
The start:

Well it all started in the 50's, evolved from Country, Blues and what we call now R%26amp;B.



Back then it was called "be-bop" or down here in the South, "***** spirituals." (no racism intended).

What all started it were a few artists such as Fats Domino, Little Richard, Sam Cook, Erline Harris,



The artists:

Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and Chuck Berry. Just a few.



It was heavily preached against by the church and some radio stations banned it, but soon enough it evolved into a worldwide phenomenon.



The fashion:

Most back then wore the traditional suit and tie.

I don't know that much about the origin, but it mainly began with bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix in the 1960's (you might want to do a bit about woodstock in your project, it was a huge festival), which are bands that are now 'classic rock'. It was a bit hippie-ish back then so the main fashion was the frills, bell bottoms, etc. The 70's was bands like Van Halen, and was the eginning of NBWoHM (New British wave of heavy metal, with metal being a branch off of rock of course) with bands like Black Sabbath, and Iron Maiden, and bands getting considerably heavier. (Fashion mostly ripped jeans, and spandex for many bands, which also went into the 80s) The 1980's was the takeover of grunge, glam, punk, and thrash. Glam was pretty much heavy metal with big hair, (like WASP, motley crue, twisted sister etc). It was the main birth of biker boots and leather.Thrash Metal are bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer. 90's were the birth of many Nu Metal bands, and also the time that many bands were beaten by punk and underground. Skinny jeans, etc. Then you have now with nickleback, disturbed, and A7x -_____________-

Back then Metal was also called a bit satanic back then with parents, like Slayer and Kiss. And if you want to look it up just google the filty 15 i believe it is...
Rock %26amp; Roll began in the 50's. Chuck Berry was considered rock %26amp;roll with his dance moves as well as musical stylings on his guitar. Elvis Presley was even considered the King of Rock %26amp; Roll. Elvis the Pelvis. Being on the Ed Sullivan Show, was the place to be to showcase new talent back in the day. They wouldn't show Elvis from the waist down. Due to his movements it was considered vulgar. Jerry Lee Lewis/Little Richard were over the top with their Piano Playing and their Antics as they played. Buddy Holly was the one that came up with the idea of putting orchestra with the Rock music to create a new sound. The Big Bopper. Have you ever seen LaBamba movie, Buddy Holly Story or even the old tv show Happy Days. those would give you a better idea about rock%26amp;roll and the fashion. Poodle skirts, Drive-Ins ( like our sonic of today) but, the waitress would come to your car on roller skates to serve your food. If the guy would be interested in a girl being his girlfriend he'd ask her to "Go Steady" he might give her his letterman sweater ( sports team sweater). The bikers would wear leather bomber jackets, boots, greased back hair. Rock %26amp; Roll was considered "Evil" to a lot of people back then. Noise if you will. Hope that was off to a good start.
