Do you think elvis presley should still be considered the king of rock and roll because he died so long ago?

Maybe that title should go to prince now.|||Elvis did not invent Rock, but he popularized it, brought it to the masses.

In the 50's Chuck Berry etc, was hated by a lot of people.

(I loved him, and i do credit him for a big piece of it )



but no one did more, to make Rock acceptable, than Elvis.

That's Why he will ALWAYS be "the King".

I like a lot of his stuff, and have a lot of respect for his talent.

(he played ALL the instruments, on his first few records)

but he is NOT Rock..

You can't really put Prince in any box.|||I just asked a question about Elvis. He didn't invent Rock and in fact wasn't even the first white rocker but In my opinion yes Elvis is "The King". He released so many early Rock %26amp; Roll classics and had one of the most distinct stage styles probably ever, it was the first wave of Rock %26amp; Roll fans who started calling him "The King"

Over time it has been easy to place Elvis into a parody, and I think people don't actually realiza how talented he was. Or they dismiss him as a musician because he didn't write but part of his appeal to myself was how he could transform other generas of music into Rock%26amp; Roll like his song "A Fool Such as I"





Some people think it is Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly and I can see that view also. It can be a fun debate.|||He started it all, without Elvis there'd be no rock, without rock there'd be no metal and so on, it all comes down to him when he started it, he's still the king, he might not sound as good as today's music, but he's king.|||Well not because he died so long ago, but he brought something new to people and performing, of course there was others before Elvis but I dont hear people talking about how great they were.|||Well rock and roll died in 1959, before Elvis, so i think he should still be king.
