Who were the female rock and roll icons from the 50's?

I am going to a themed dance and I need some inspiration for a costume. Like what to wear and also, the decoration that fit the theme.Who were the female rock and roll icons from the 50's?
Some popular female singers in the 50s were Brenda Lee, Peggy Lee, Dinah Shore, Doris Day, Patti Page, and Connie Francis, although I don't know if they would be considered rock and roll, especially since what we now call rock and roll was only just beginning in the 1950s.

As far as costumes for the 50s go, poodle skirts, tight sweaters, a scarf around the neck, a high ponytail, and saddle shoes with socks is always a classic look. Or at least just a really fluffy calf-length skirts with basic white shoes and socks. Or there's always the I Love Lucy look. For decorations from the 50s, I always think of lots of pinks, blues, yellows, and greens, music notes, records, jukeboxes, classic cars, ice cream floats, and other soda shop-like things. Sort of like the movie Pleasantville.

If you want pictures of some of these singers, here are some links.

Most female performers of that era were mainly pop singers. If you want more of a rock and roll feel, you might have to look to R%26amp;B performers such as Big Mama Thornton, who did the original version of "Hound Dog", as well as Tina Turner, LaVerne Baker, Ruth Brown, Etta James, and Della Reese.Who were the female rock and roll icons from the 50's?
