What do you prefer 1950's rock and roll or todays rap?

rapWhat do you prefer 1950's rock and roll or todays rap?
1950's rock

rap is always negative and sexual
50's rock, today's rap is too violent and sexist. What do you prefer 1950's rock and roll or todays rap?
1950's rock and roll. Rap is so sexually demeaning and negative. If there were nothing but rap to listen to I would never listen to music if you can call it music.
50s and 60s and 70s......rap sucksWhat do you prefer 1950's rock and roll or todays rap?
neither.

I prefer 90s rap
i should write this poem : sepukhti ey javane nekunam * agar didi javaad nekunam-ye chand sale boghz dari * az vagti ke ru dastet khal kubi kun dari-ey faraze gamgin * chera kiret shode sangin-ba sina nasho dargir * ya mikoni tu sheer sakht gir-atal matal che kune*dule faraz che khube-na sorat gir dare na amale makruh-kiresho kardan tu kune( manzur shoma nistid bela nesbat az shoma) you
1950s Rock and Roll is one of my favourite types of music ever!

Seems like it's no as popular today- i got a Buddy Holly Album for 96p.

Good for me, Bad for decent music.
Even though the question focuses on music, the racial overtone is so apparent I can't help but laugh.lol

I like Danny prefer 90's rap.
Today's REAL rap, not that crunk lil wayne bullshit. 90's rap for sure though.

As for rock and roll I prefer the less mainstream bands of the 60's/70's/80's, Joy Division, David Bowie, The Smiths, The Kinks, The Doors etc.
Mainstream rap sucks, and I don't like the way it portrays Black people. I like today's "underground" hip-hop better, check this out...

edit: And Latrell and Danny are right 90's rap was better, but today's undergroud hip-hop is on point, too.
Rap...specifically 90's Era East Coast Rap. But I DO like 50's Rock. I'm also a fan of hip-hop/neo soul collaborations

people who chose 50's Rock over Rap simply because of lyrical content are just idiots who probaby dont even understand the music. Rock in the 50's was JUST AS SEXUAL as Rap is today...the very name Rock %26amp; Roll is a euphamism for sexual intercourse. The only reason it seems tame today is because most people living today are not up on the 50's slang so they dont understand the lyrics: Rock %26amp; Roll was under heavy fire from conservative groups back in the day for being so explicit.

Anyone who can call Chuck Berry or Lil Richard or Jerry Lee Lewis innocent and kind-hearted is an idiot...they were some of the most sexual people of their time.

EXAMPLE: Jerry lee lewis "Whole Lotta Shakin Goin' On"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yRdDnrB5…

he's talkin bout havin a "bull by tha horns"....but it aint cows he's talkin about. There's "chickens in tha barn"...but it aint hen's he's talkin bout. People are so quick to judge rap because the face of today's rap is Black, urban, poor and vexed at the world...but they ignoring all the blatant sexuality in their own society and instead point the finger at us.

Jerry Lee Lewie is my man, but I aint gonna stand here and say that his music is clean and innocent, cuz it's obviously not. And that's why I like it, because real good music talks about real sh*t that we can understand. He's talkin bout "shakin goin on" but i cant remember the last time i shook for no reason. But i can remember the last time i had "chicken in a barn" lol.
both!

i like rockabilly and not really "todays" rap more like 90's rap.
1950's rock...heck anything is better than rap!
To the first comment..not all rap is always negative and sexual..a lot of it yes,but there is some that has meaning..Flobots rap...they are about something. There are many others, but the flobots are a good example.

I love Jimmy Hendrix too!..I love both Rock and Roll and Rap.
No comparison: 1950s rock

However, I will repeat; today's "underground" rap is the good rap of today; people who don't know better will say that all of today's rap is garbage

Today you have to search for the good music
The fifties rock and roll has an innocence rap lacks today--however rap works with the issues, what people REALLY think no matter how 'bad' it is to admit. Also, rap can work for everybody. My favorite rapper is tobyMac.
